Shihan Dale Jenkins

Sensei Sammartino began his training in 1974 under Shihan Dale Jenkins at the Jersey Judo Karate Kai and studied with him until Shihan Jenkin's untimely death in 1984 at age 46.

Shihan Jenkins studied Isshin-ryu under Shihan Joel Buchholz and held the rank of Roku-dan, 6th degree. He also had a black belt in Judo. He authored the book, An Education in the Martial Arts and served as the United States representative of the Isshin-ryu World Karate Association.

He developed Pinan I and Pinan II, the two basic forms the precede the formal Isshin-ryu kata and that learned by all students, junior and senior, at our dojo.

His teachings form the basis for the Dojo, Kai and the Association to which we belong.
